As the use of internet is becoming more commonplace, the younger generation is hooked to it and is using technology to communicate more often. The new found liberty is clearly evident as we see people “tweeting” new words, “chatting” without talking and “googling” internet for almost everything. The modern technology driven world is finding new words and creating unique expressions to suit the purpose. The words are contracted, clipped, clubbed and are also given new meanings and dimensions. The desire for ‘Dzire’ is on a high, the thirst for lemon gets more ‘lemni’ and ‘tasti’. The present paper focuses mainly on the role of media technology in reshaping the English language, how the younger generation communicates among them and how does it affect the overall communication process in the society in the ever shrinking globalized world. It also briefly traces the journey of English language through media to the present day.en_US
