Abstract: The study aims to understand changing paradigm in training methods from traditional to modern. 713 articles were retrieved from the Scopus database and a bibliometric analysis of the training methods was conducted. Further, this study also seeks to analyze the outcomes of various training methods. The main objective of the study is to understand the most relevant training techniques in this current volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) work environment. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses bibliometric data and VOSviewer user interfaces to perform several types of analyses on the data taken from the Scopus database (the largest interdisciplinary database in social sciences). Based on journal citations, well-known authors, popular search terms, and publications in many industries, we chose 713 articles. Findings: From the content analysis, it has been observed that the pandemic has caused a significant shift in training methods across the majority of sectors. Many industries are adopting modern training approaches including simulation, e-learning, virtual training, blended learning, etc. because of their favorable effects on employee engagement, performance, and knowledge acquisition. Contribution of the Study: Our study identifies the most effective training methods that can be implemented in various sectors. Further, the study emphasizes the various benefits of different training methods so that practitioners can choose the best training technique which fulfills their organizational objectives. 190 Originality/value: Based on the extensive literature review, this is one of the few papers on training methods for the past 10 years that has indicated the shift in training methods from traditional to modern in different sectors. In addition to being relevant for the practitioners, it will also set the agenda for future research.
