Integration of supply chains is one of the most important parameters in managing a road construction project. While the concept of ‘supply chain’ has been around for some time, its specific applications in large projects such as road construction projects are still not well-understood. Although few studies have been carried out on the construction supply chain in India, it is at a nascent stage for Indian road projects. A significant amount of research needs to be carried out in the construction supply chain in India and for road projects along with enablers, impediments, and risks in specific. The sample survey questionnaire for the identification of risks in the construction supply chain for Indian road projects related to various identified potential areas is developed based on a literature review and information collected during focused group discussions with different stakeholders such as suppliers, Government officials, concessionaire, consultants, contractors, and users. Ten risks were identified via a literature review and discussion with fifty experts in the Indian Road Construction Industry. As per the opinion of industry experts and twenty-two years of experience of the author, these risks are further divided into two types, internal risk, and external risk. The objective of this study is to understand the impact of external risk on the performance of construction supply chain management for Indian road projects.en_US
