Abstract: The isoperimetric problem on a surface is to find a sub-surface that has a specified area and the least possible perimeter. We discuss the development of a numerical technique to identify locally minimizing sub-surface for a given surface and area. The numerical technique is applied to some sample surfaces for varying prescribed areas and the results are presented.
