Measurements of the enthalpies of mixing are presented for equimolar mixtures of carbon tetrachloride with ethylbenzene, cumene, and t-butylbenzene at temperature between 288.00 and 352.96 K. Enthalpies of mixing are also presented for carbon tetrachloride and ethylbenzene over a wide range of composition at 337.97 K at which point the enthalpy of mixing changes sign for an equimolar mixture. A double maximum is obtained in the curve of enthalpy of mixing against the mole fraction of carbon tetrachloride. The results are understood in terms of a simple theory of complex-formation.en_US
