Abstract: The electrical conductivity of the ionic liquid (n-butyl)4N+(n-butyl)4B– was measured from 110 to 180°C and from 200 to 1800 bar. The viscosity and volume of the salt have been measured previously. For practical purposes the ions are identical except for charge so the self diffusion coefficients of the two ions are assumed to be the same and are calculated from the conductance, using the Nernst–Einstein relation (NER). A simple corresponding states approach is suggested to account for the fact that the molar conductivities of (n-butyl)4N+(n-butyl)4B– and (n-butyl)4N+ BF–4 are the same at the same temperature and hard sphere pressure T(∂S/∂V)T.
