The electrochemical luminescence of rubene in benzonitrile was generated in cells with path length 20–40 µm by passing a direct current. The luminescence yield, corrected for refractive index losses, increases from 0.008 to 0.016 as the voltage is raised from 2.4 to 2.8 V.en_US
