Abstract: Salmonella, a foodborne pathogen, possesses a type I-E clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-CRISPR associated (Cas) system. We investigated the system’s role in regulating Salmonella virulence by deleting the CRISPR arrays and Cas operon.
