Abstract: The shear strength of RC T-beams with and without GFRP obtained from experimental investigation is compared to the shear strength computed by the guidelines given in different standards such as American Concrete Institute (ACI 318-02), Canadian Standard Association (CSA A23.3-94) and Indian Standard (IS: 456-2000) building codes (without the provision of FRP) and also ACI 440.2R-02 guidelines (with the provision of FRP). Best-fit curves are plotted with the results obtained from the experiments performed on RC T-beams strengthened in shear with GFRP sheets. The effectiveness of RC T-beams strengthened in shear with GFRP sheet may be calculated using the proposed best-fit curves and the design approach proposed by Khalifa
