Abstract: In today s world the competition moves so quickly that an organization does not have the newlinecomfort of absorbing some losses before it loses the war in the market. The key to longterm newlinesuccess is being able to do certain things better than your competitors can do. Hence newlinemany companies are in the process of trying to do it right the first time in every process newlineof the business like new product development, supply chain management, marketing and newlinemanufacturing processes also. Traditional manufacturing approaches are no longer efficient newlineto stay in the present global market scenario. In response to this, many organizations have newlinestarted to adopt different philosophies like total quality management, total preventive newlinemaintenance, six sigma and lean enterprise etc., in their business processes to stay in the newlinecompetitive world market. After implementation of such philosophies, these organizations newlinestarted claiming of becoming world-class manufacturers especially in manufacturing newlineprocesses. However, many philosophies have implemented to improve manufacturing newlineprocesses in organizations. Moreover, some organization have started to improve overall newlineorganizational functions, start from product development to customer delivery. Lean newlineenterprise is one of the strategy, which can be useful to improve overall organizational newlineprocesses. It is starts from product development to customer delivery. However, there is no newlineclear consensus among the manufacturers and also the absence of a practical and detailed newlinemodel to follow is an issue of concern to those organizations interested to implement lean newlineenterprise principles especially for Indian manufacturing organizations. Hence, there is a newlineneed for an empirical investigation of lean enterprise in the Indian manufacturing newlineindustries.
