Abstract: Mitigation of power oscillations is a key challenge while dealing with power system performance. The stability of the power system is more affected and observable when it is subjected to different faults. In this paper power oscillation damping (POD) controller is used as a supplementary controller to damp-out the oscillation in the power system. Which is designed using a Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) as a FACTS (Flexible AC transmission system) controller. MATLAB/Simulink software is used to investigate the time domain behavior of SSSC under various conditions. The investigations have validated that the proposed controller effectively improved the performance of power system.
