Abstract: | Millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology is one of the most popular enabling technologies in the fifth-generation and beyond wireless systems. MmWave technology provides substantial extra bandwidth to address high data rate requirements for various terrestrial mobile systems. High propagation attenuation and channel fading are the main challenges of mmWave communication. In this paper, we consider mmWave non-cooperative and cooperative system models and propose the best mmWave channel selection policy (BMCSP). For these two systems, we study the performance of the proposed BMCSP. Specifically, we present useful mathematical analysis for the average spectral efficiency (SE) of both non-cooperative and cooperative mmWave systems in the Nakagami fading scenario. To quantify the gains delivered by BMSCP, we compare its average SE performance with that of the randomly selected channel. We find that the proposed policy provides superior performance in terms of average spectral efficiency. |
