dc.description.abstract In this paper, we consider deterministic linear precoding and channel state information based linear combining for a single-user multiple-input multiple-output communication system in flat Rayleigh fading. The precoding matrix is chosen such that it maximizes a bound on the average received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), whereas the combining matrix is chosen such that it maximizes the instantaneous output SNR. We present techniques for obtaining the precoder and combiner matrices and analyze the error performance of the system in terms of the pairwise error probability. en_US
