dc.description.abstract The pillow-plate heat exchanger (PPHE) is a unique class of passive heat exchanger, consists of spot-welding of two metal sheets, the seam welding on edge, and successive hydroforming. The surface of the pillow-plate channel is artificial wavy or periodic; due to this reason, the fluid flow and heat transport of fluid can be influenced when the flow is passing internally or externally. This unique feature has fascinated researchers and scientists across the globe to test its capability as a turbulent generator technique in heat exchangers. The proposed work presents an updated and brief review of fluid flow and heat transfer enhancement in PPHE. Based on the research findings, many essential variables directly bearing on the convective heat transportability in PPHE have been recognized. This paper also identifies the fundamental challenges and opportunities for future research. It is predicted that the wavy surface can substantially impact the fluid flow and heat transfer in PPHE by critically resolving these challenges. en_US
