Abstract:
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease. In the past few decades, it has become a serious health problem in both developed and developing countries. The rising burden of diabetes has affected the economy and health sectors around the world. Diabetes management involves the use of synthetic drugs, insulin, and herbal drugs.
In the recent past, not only India but the entire world has identified the importance of seed drugs from medicinal plants. Many seed drugs from Indian medicinal plants have been reported to have a significant effect in diabetes. This chapter focuses on detailed information about the common names, geographical distribution, morphology, chemical compounds, traditional uses, and toxicity data of these seeds studied in the treatment of diabetes.
