dc.description.abstract This paper reports design of a new uc-planar EBG unit cell. Subsequently, this proposed EBG cell has been used to enhance the performance of microstrip patch antenna and its array operating in ISM band (2.4-2.4835 GHz). The effectiveness of the proposed uc-planar EBG unit cell has been demonstrated by comparing the performance with the conventional mushroom type EBG incorporated in the patch and array. The simulated and measured results obtained from the developed prototypes show good agreements but the obtained results are better for the proposed uc-planar EBG cell in terms of gain and efficiency. en_US
