dc.description.abstract The criterion of fit to adsorption data advocated by Baker and Head is shown to be too lax and likely to lead to spurious analysis. Computer-generated parameters fitting the derived heats and entropies of adsorption yield isotherms in disagreement with the experimental isotherms from which these derived quantities were evaluated. Reasons for this discrepancy are considered, and an improved criterion of fit is suggested. Impediments to establishing a unique description of a surface by this type of analysis are examined. en_US
