dc.description.abstract Simultaneous extraction of thorium nitrate and water by heptanol and hexanol is described. Using the Gibbs-Duhem relationship, the activities of alcohols in the ternary systems are calculated for the range 0-2.5 mol dm-3 of aqueous Th(N03)4. The solubility of water in the alcohols, as a function of water activity, is also determined. en_US
