Abstract:
This chapter deals with the nuances of microchannel heat exchangers and the various methods employed to conduct a novel study of the said topic. The chapter deals with the fundamental concepts needed to understand fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics in a microchannel. A detailed compilation has been presented on the experimental and numerical methods one can employ to recreate and simulate the real-world conditions and further enhance studies. Various applications have been discussed wherein the role of microchannel heat exchangers is significant, such as biomedical devices, the automotive industry, the renewable energy industry, and electronics cooling. As the world transitions toward more efficient devices, enhancement techniques to increase heat transfer within microchannels are discussed in this chapter.
