dc.description.abstract Rigorous utilization of chemical fertilizers, monoculture and irrigation with surface saline water is globally deteriorating the quality of surface soil. In present work, the halo and alkalo tolarent bacterium strain isolated from extreme environment, was explored for producing plant growth hormones, that could be used for salt stress up gradation of the crops. The 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used for analysis of salt tolerant bacterium. The bacterium was identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa KP163922. The Pseudomonas aeruginosa KP 163922 showed plant growth promotion traits, production of industrially important enzymes (amylase, protease and cellulase) and tolerance to more than 4% NaCl. The antagonistic test reveals that, the growth of pathogenic gram negative bacterium E. coli and Pseudomonas putida was repressed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa KP163922 en_US
