dc.description.abstract | 5,5-diphenyldihydrofuran-2(3H)-one(5) [C16H14O2] crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with the following unit cell parameters: a=8.132(5), b=13.224(5), c=11.785(5) Å, β=101.445(5)° and Z=4. The crystal structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full matrix least-squares procedure to a final R value of 0.054 for 1651 observed reflections. Furan ring adopts envelope conformation. Two phenyl rings are almost perpendicular to each other [dihedral angle = 85.66(7)°]. Crystal packing is stabilized by C-H…O intra molecular and weak C-H…π interactions. | en_US |
