dc.description.abstract Software testing is the process of validation and verification of the software product. newlineEffective software testing contributes to the delivery of reliable, quality software product, newlineleading to low software maintenance cost and satisfied users. Therefore, it is an essential newlineactivity of software development process. The importance of testing can be gauged from the newlinefact that approximately 35% of the total time required for developing the software and over newline50% of the total development cost is used for testing. In most cases, exhaustive testing newlinerequires large time and effort, making it costly and infeasible. From the perspective of newlinequality of testing and reduction of testing cost, automation of testing process is the need of newlinethe hour. This thesis addresses the issues of quantitative and qualitative analysis of software testing, newlineincorporating the various parameters that influence the testing process. It is aimed at developing an automated software testing process that satisfies the quality requirement newlineunder the fixed resource budget (time and cost). For large software projects, innovative software development approaches are of vital importance. Sophisticated approaches are required to deal with the uncertainty and vagueness involved in software development newlineprocess. Software testing ensures higher software quality for any software product. newlineSoftware quality attributes are not explicit and are difficult to measure. A given quality newlineattribute may impact different contexts in different ways. The members of software newlinedevelopment team may have different stands regarding the significance of a quality attribute. newlineThis thesis presents an approach for selection of software solution based on Software Requirement Specification (SRS) proposal and quality parameters. en_US
