Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Study of the Conformation of Macromolecules Adsorbed at the Solid/Liquid Interface
(Journal of the Chemical Society : Faraday Transaction - I. The Chemical Society, London. 1974, 70 (07), 1974) Fox, Katharine K.; Robb, Ian D.; Smith, Royston
A method using e.p.r. spectroscopy has been developed for determining the ratio of the number of segments in loops to the number in trains for polymers adsorbed at the solid/liquid interface. The method can be used on a wide variety of spin-free substrates and in most solvents useful information can be obtained not only about the adsorbed polymer, but also about the influence of other molecules, such as surfactants, on it.

Exchange Processes in Solutions of Nitroxide Surfactants
(Journal of the Chemical Society : Faraday Transaction - I. The Chemical Society, London. 1978, 74 (1), 1978) Fox, Katharine K.
The temperature-dependent broadening of the electron paramagnetic resonance spectra observed in aqueous solutions of the paramagnetic surfactants 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-oxidedccyldimethylammonium bromide, 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-oxidedodecyldimethylammonium bromide and 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-oxidetetradccyldimethylammonium bromide is not caused by monomer-micelle exchange in those solutions. It is probably due to the different effectiveness of monomers and micelles in causing Heisenberg spin exchange, complicated by the temperature variation of the c.m.c. and by possible dimerization of the nitroxide head group.
