Addressing the Agile Manufacturing Impediments using Interpretive Structural Modeling
(Elsevier, 2017) Routroy, Srikanta; Potdar, Pavan Kumar
Agile manufacturing (AM) has achieved tremendous remembrance by the organizations to beat the uncertainties resulting from rapidly change market, shortening product life cycle, varying customer demand and obsolete technologies. AM is adopted as a new concept to improve the competitiveness of different organizations ranging from manufacturing sector to service sector. However, in reality, many organizations have been facing lots of problems during the implementation of AM due to some environment specific impediments. The AM implementation process is getting delayed without the efforts of addressing the root cause of Agile Manufacturing Impediments (AMIs). These AMIs have its deep roots along various tangible and intangible issues of the organizations. Therefore, an organization needs to target the appropriate AMIs as putting efforts on all AMIs is not feasible. In this paper, a methodology is proposed using Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) integrated with Fuzzy Matriced Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliqueeaun Classement (FMICMAC) algorithm for systematic analysis of impediments of AM. To demonstrate its practicality, a case study was conducted in an Indian automobile manufacturing company.

Agile manufacturing: a systematic review of literature and implications for future research
(Emerald, 2017-10) Routroy, Srikanta; Potdar, Pavan Kumar
Agile manufacturing (AM) has evolved as a revolutionary way of manufacturing the products while managing the uncertainties, product introduction time, responsiveness, innovation, superior quality, etc. along the supply chain to satisfy the ever increasing customer demand and to maximize the profit. The purpose of this paper is to critically analyze the literature related to various dimensions of AM and to report the findings.

Analysis of Agile Manufacturing Enablers: A Case Study
(Elsevier, 2018) Routroy, Srikanta; Potdar, Pavan Kumar
The purpose of this paper is to strategically select and focus the right Agile Manufacturing Enablers (AMEs) for agility enhancement.A methodology is proposed using Interpretive Structural Modeling - Fuzzy Matriced Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliqueeaun Classement analysis to analyze the AMEs considering their driving and dependence power. The proposed methodology was applied to an Indian electrical hardware manufacturing company. It was concluded that the effort and focus should be streamlined towards information visibility and transparency, devolution of authority, and adaptability for enhancing its agility.

A benchmarking approach for enhancing agility in manufacturing environment
(Inder Science, 2017-03) Routroy, Srikanta; Potdar, Pavan Kumar
The agile manufacturing companies have been putting efforts for enhancing the agility along various dimensions to sustain and grow in today's global business arena with volatile market conditions, rapid change in technology, immature and innovative products, ever changing and increasing customer expectations, and intense competition. One should understand and analyse the enablers, impediments and outcomes of agile manufacturing to develop the right strategy(s) to enhance its agility. Although few works have been reported on agility assessment and enhancement in the literature, they are mostly industry specific. Therefore, a generic benchmarking framework for enhancing agility along with step by step implementation process is proposed and discussed in detail. This proposed framework can serve as a road map to enhance agility of agile manufacturing.

Implementation performance of agile manufacturing: a graph theoretic approach
(Inder Science, 2018-07) Routroy, Srikanta; Potdar, Pavan Kumar
The primary objective of this paper is to quantify, evaluate and compare the implementation performance of agile manufacturing program using graph theoretic approach. Eleven agile manufacturing enablers with their key performance indicators were identified and classified into three significant categories. The proposed model captures the performance and interdependencies of significant categories, agile manufacturing enablers and their key performance indicators to quantify the agile manufacturing implementation performance level. In order to demonstrate the utility of the proposed approach, it was applied to an Indian automobile manufacturing company. The performances along the timeline were evaluated and compared with different scenarios to identify performance gap and set the future targets. Although it was observed a significant growth in agile manufacturing implementation performance level in the case company over six quarters, but there was performance gap that needs to be reduced.
