    Derivation of Partial Molal Volumes in Binary Systems

    A number of methods of evaluating partial molal volumes from experimental density/composition data for binary systems are considered. Systematic analysis of density data for four binary systems involving water and a second hydrogen bonding component, using analytic expressions compatible with the partial molal volumes being expressed as truncated power series in mole fraction or weight fraction, shows that functions in the latter variable provide a more efficient description than those in the former.

    Viscosity behaviour of some simple electrolytes in formamide solution

    Viscosity B-coefficients and activation parameters have been measured for a number of salts in formamide. The results are discussed in terms of the effects of individual ions on the structure of the solvent.
