Item Role of FinTech and technological innovation towards energy, growth, and environment nexus in G20 economies(Springer Nature, 2025) Bal, Debi Prasad; Rao, N.V.M.The current global consumption scenario is characterized as an energy-intensive economic development, indicating a rising mismatch in the harmonious relationship between individuals and the environment. The mismatch is caused by unsustainable consumption practices that do not take into account long-term ecological repercussions. To address this mismatch, it is necessary to turn toward sustainable energy use, greener technologies, and more responsible resource management, with the goal of balancing human economic progress with environmental care. Therefore, this study examines the influence of FinTech and technological innovations on the energy-growth-environment nexus in the context of G-20 economies for the time span of 2005- 2022. The study employs the panel vector autoregressive (PVAR) model in the generalized method of moment (GMM) approach to explore the interrelationship among the variables. From the findings, it was concluded that FinTech has a positive impact on the energy-growth-environment nexus. Similar to FinTech, technological innovation also has favourable influence on the energy-growth-environment nexus. Finally, there exist positive influence of energy on growth and environment, whereas rising carbon emissions exerts negative influence on growth and renewable energy consumption. From the policy standpoint, authorities can catalyse a more sustainable and inclusive future by encouraging collaboration among the fintech, technological advancement, energy, and environmental sectors.Item Analysing the role of fintech and resource use in shaping environmental outcomes using load capacity factor in G20 countries(Springer, 2025-07) Rao, N.V.M.; Bal, Debi PrasadThis study examines the dynamic interrelationships between financial technology (fintech), natural resource rents, economic growth, urbanization, and environmental sustainability, using the Load Capacity Factor (LCF) as a composite measure of ecological balance. Unlike prior studies that rely solely on demand-side indicators such as carbon emissions or ecological footprint, this research employs LCF to capture both environmental supply and demand dimensions. Utilizing annual data spanning from 2005 to 2022, we construct fintech index using variables, namely, automated teller machine, mobile cellular subscription, fixed broadband subscription, and internet usage, by employing Principal Component Analysis approach. For preliminary testing, current study considers cross-sectional dependency test, slope homogeneity tests, pedroni and westerlund tests for cointegration and pairwise dumitrescu hurlin panel granger causality tests, and common correlated effects mean group and driscoll-kraay estimation for robustness. For result findings, we utilized the panel Vector Autoregression (Panel-VAR) method to illustrate the dynamic relationships among these variables. Our findings from Panel VAR approach indicate that fintech shocks initially have a positive impact on natural resource rent and load capacity factor but this effect weakens over later horizon, suggesting the need for cautious policy design. Furthermore, economic growth responds positively to fintech shocks, while the influence of fintech on natural resource rent and urbanization appears to be negative. From a policy standpoint, our research suggests that promoting fintech could mitigate environmental degradation and contribute to sustainable development.Item Investigating the role of motivation in strengthening entrepreneurial intention among women entrepreneurs in India(Springer, 2020-07) Rao, N.V.M.The purpose of this paper is to explore the key factors, which motivate women to take up entrepreneurial activity and to understand its role in increasing Entrepreneurial intention towards women entrepreneurs in Indian micro, small and medium enterprises. This paper attempts to develop a scale for measuring motivational factors, entrepreneurial potential that leads to entrepreneurial intention among women entrepreneurs in India and hence testing its validation. In addition, it will help in understanding the relationship between motivation, entrepreneurial potential and intention through hypothesis testing. The paper adopts an exploratory and descriptive research design capitalizing on authentic and reliable secondary data through exhaustive studies of reputed journals/literatures, government sources. A sample of 397 respondents from all across the India has been collected from women entrepreneurs for this study in order to understand the motivational factors and its role in increasing entrepreneurial intention, using cluster and snowball sampling on self-administered questionnaire. The accumulated data were than analyzed using descriptive analysis for validity and reliability checks. Strong correlations were found between motivational factors, perceived desirability, entrepreneurial potential and intention and hence confirmed that all the measures in the instrument were well constructed. Hypothesis testing using Spearmen’s correlation test (two tailed) explains the significance of relationship between the variables.Item Impact of globalization on human rights: evidence from Sub-Saharan Africa(Emerald, 2020-11) Rao, N.V.M.The study extends the Poe and Tate (1994) model, which enumerates the various determinants of human rights. Ordered probit estimation is used to estimate the impact of globalization and its dimensions. For the purpose of empirical analysis, the period has been divided into three phases: short, medium and long term. This helps in understanding how the impact of the different dimensions of globalization has evolved over a period of time. Furthermore, analysis has been carried out to detect causality between human rights and globalization.Item The antecedents of entrepreneurial intention among women entrepreneurs in India(Emerald, 2020-04) Rao, N.V.M.The purpose of this paper is to understand the role of entrepreneurial intention in promoting women entrepreneurship in Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This study seeks to clarify the construct of entrepreneurial intention and then reports the validation of the entrepreneurial intention instrument.Item Gender Differences in Influence of Socio-demographic Characteristics on Mode Choice in India(Korea Science, 2020) Rao, N.V.M.The study aims to investigate differences between men and women in influence of various socio-demographic factors on choice of mode of transport. For this purpose, a binary logit model of choice probabilities is implemented on survey data of a developing country city. Results indicate women's choice of travel mode to be more environment-friendly than that of men. Well-educated, working and middle-aged individuals appear to be the most likely to choosing more-polluting modes of transport for frequent travelling purposes. Individuals in the sample who are the least socioeconomically well off are found the most likely to be promising for the environment. The findings of this study suggest the future transportation policies toward development of existing infrastructure of greener modes of transportation in the city such as, public transportation services and pedestrian lanes, so as to manage the rising issues of degrading environmental quality. The study highlights how the consideration and inclusion of socio-demographic factors is crucial for policy recommendation regarding curtailing the environmental damages contributed by transportation sector. Because mobility crucially affects all other indicators of empowerment, and women are the ones using green modes extensively, the city's transportation system should be so developed which gives their safety and security due importance.Item Is the choice of less-polluting modes of transport for non-work purposes affected by socio-demographic factors? Evidence from India(Emerald, 2021-05) Rao, N.V.M.Using survey data of a developing country city, this study aims to examine the impact of different socio-demographic factors on the choice of less-polluting modes of transport for purposes other than work.Item Socio-economic- and Gender-based Differentials in Choice of Sustainable Mode of Transport: Evidence from Jaipur, India(Sage, 2021-03) Rao, N.V.M.Climate change, fuelled by the growing transportation sector, is a pressing global challenge. There is a need to promote such a system of transportation, which is not only efficient but also sustainable. Using descriptive statistics complemented with a logit model of choice probabilities implemented on survey data from a city in a developing country, this study aims to examine the impact ‘of different socio-economic factors on the choice of sustainable modes of transport while also highlighting how these choices are different for men and women—the group of working population, those with the highest level of education, the group which is the most socio-economically well-off and the population of men most unlikely to prefer sustainable modes of transport. The study emphasizes the need to incorporate the varying demands of different socio-economic groups while formulating transportation policies so as to hamper neither the goal of sustainability nor the goal of women empowerment.Item Usage of Machine Learning Algorithm Models to Predict Operational Efficiency Performance of Selected Banking Sectors of India(IJETAE, 2022-06) Rao, N.V.M.It was an attempt to predict the impact of NPAs in the selected public (SBI, BoI, BoB, BoM, CBoI, AB, CB, AlB,) and private (AxB, ICB, HDFCB and KB) banking sectors from 2008 to 2019. The data was also used to predict operational performance efficiency of these banking sectors after extracting through machine learning (ML) algorithm models and statistical interpretation of prediction accuracy by using WEKA tool. We used different models viz. NaiveBayes (NB), BayesNet (BN), logistic regression (LgR), Sequential minimal optimization of Support Vector Machine regression (SMOreg), Linear Logistic Regression (SL), Classification via Regression (CR), LogitBoost (LB); Logistic Model Tree (LMT), Random Forest & Random tree (RF & RT), Pruned & unpruned decision tree C4 (J48), and Class implementing minimal cost-complexity pruning (Cart) related to 15 attributes viz. GNPA, NNPA, GDP, CPI, PSL, TL, STA, GDP-1, RR, CPI-1, TE, TP and USTA as numeric as well as Banks, Year, GNPA>6, and GNPA>7, as nominal categories of dataset where overall performance accuracy was determined. The algorithm model classification predicted the highest values were for LB (78.47%) and Cart (74.30%) followed by J48 (73.61%), CR (72.91%) and LMT (69.44%) and lowest value in SMO (34.72%) as per 10-fold cross validation test. Additionally, these predicted results may have valuable implications for Indian banking sectors. We evaluated the operational efficiency as cumulative performance for 12 banking sectors as per assumed cut off values of GNPA. It may be varied with other independent variables like credit risk parameters, etc. It is suggested in future to study with parameters of deposit collection and investment to determine credit risk of these banking sectors.Item Role of safety in declining public transport use: Empirical evidence from India(Emerald, 2023-11) Rao, N.V.M.Using primary survey data from an urban area in Global North, this study aims to examine the impact of sociodemographic factors on perception of usefulness of public transport and the importance of safety in preferring private modes of transport over public.
