Item Inventory Modelling for technology generation products under uncertain trade credit terms and imprecise procurement costs(OSCM, 2022) Nagpal, Gaurav; Chanda, Udayan; Jasti, Naga Vamsi KrishnaThe inventory policies for any product under the trade credit mechanism are influenced by the procurement price per unit and the credit period offered by the seller to the buyer. This paper develops an inventory model for the technology generations under the imprecise trade credit period and the imprecise procurement cost. It considers the demand that is credit-linked and governed by innovation diffusion as well. The imprecise nature of the parameters is captured by the use of fuzzy numbers. The trapezoidal membership function has been used to fuzzify the profit function with the imprecise parameters, and then the centroid method is used to de-fuzzify the profit. The numerical illustrations have been performed, followed by the sensitivity analysis with the launch timing of the second generation product. A few important implications for the inventory practitioners and the possible extensions of this work have also been discussedItem Ore Grade Estimation in Mining Industry from petro-physical data using neural networks(ACM Digital Library, 2022) Nagpal, Gaurav; Nagpal, Ankita; Jasti, Naga Vamsi KrishnaThe grade of the ore in mining industry plays a very important role. From the petro-physical data, the grade of the ore can be predicted with reasonable accuracy. However, the existing literature is silent on the techniques of data analytics that can be used for ore-grade estimation with the help of data. The study uses multi-layer neural network perceptron model and neural network regression models for predicting the grade on the basis of Petro-physical data that was collected by doing borehole geophysical survey capturing twenty-one properties of the ore. The research study is able to estimate the grade of the ore with reasonable accuracy using the data.Item Predictive Analytics based Modeling of the purchase intention of electric vehicles, and understanding the drivers and risks in their adoption for the people of Tamil Nadu in India(IEEE, 2023) Jasti, Naga Vamsi Krishna; Nagpal, Gaurav; Nagpal, AnkitaWhile the adoption of electric vehicles by the World is very important to address the issues of climate change, the rate of adoption of EVs is substantially low due to some of the barriers in their adoption by the population. While several studies have been done in the past using different theories to measure the perception of people towards the electric vehicles in the context of several countries including India, there is no such study for a specific Indian state. Since India is the land of diversity where people with different lifestyles and values co-exist, the state-specific studies can generate more insights for the policy makers, manufacturers and marketers of EVs. Therefore, this study measures the perception of people of Tamil Nadu, one of the prominent automotive manufacturing hubs in the country, towards the adoption of electric vehicles through a structured primary survey. A logistic regression model has also been developed to measure the purchase intention of the potential adopters. The important findings of the study and managerial implications have also been discussed.Item An empirical study on implementation of sustainable production practices in Indian manufacturing industry(Emerald, 2023-10) Jasti, Naga Vamsi Krishna; Nagpal, Gaurav; Kota, SrinivasSustainable production (SP) is an efficient and influential approach of production for Indian manufacturing industries as it preserves the social, environmental and economic aspects of production activities altogether. The objective of this research work is to investigate the implementation status of SP practices in Indian manufacturing industries by utilizing empirical survey methodology.Item A Review of Innovation Diffusion Modelling Literature(CRC Press, 2020) Nagpal, Gaurav; Chanda, UdayanBirth of product innovations is a natural phenomenon that takes place as and when the ever-changing consumer needs are addressed. The examples of such innovation technology products are our mobile handsets, the WiFi routers, the microprocessors, the computational devices, and the data storage devices. Such innovations in the products take time to get diffused in the market. While some innovations prove to be successful, some may fail also if either the understanding of the consumer needs is inadequate, or the implementation of the innovation in terms of market entry strategy or operational strategy is faulty. There is plenty of literature on the diffusion modelling of innovations. This review aims to summarize the existing literature on diffusion modelling of innovations and bring about the research gaps that can be addressed in the future. While putting forward the research gaps, the authors attempt to give a due consideration to the contemporary needs of the industry in line with the evolving consumer dynamics and supply dynamics.Item Cushioning the Economy From COVID-19: A Commentary on the Approaches Adopted by Major Nations(IGI Global, 2021) Nagpal, GauravThe COVID-19 pandemic has left the world in complete disarray. Different economies around the world have tackled the COVID-19 pandemic differently, with several monetary and fiscal policies being introduced to combat the devastating effects the pandemic has had on the economy. This chapter focuses on some of the most economically powerful countries and their policies to overcome pandemic-related adversities. More importantly, it gives insights on how COVID-19 is different from earlier crises in terms of its characteristics and also in terms of the uniqueness of the initiatives taken by the major economies in mitigating its impact. The chapter also discusses how the new-age technologies can help manage this crisis better. The study also discusses the implications for the policymakers, the governments, the executioners, and the think tanks or consultants to the decision makers.Item Recent Financial Reforms: A Case Study on Developing and Deploying an Income Prediction Model for a Personal Loan Portfolio(Apple Academic Press, 2021) Nagpal, GauravThe core business of business-to-business-to-consumer financing organizations is in the field of corporate lending, housing finance, consumer finance, and asset management. The objective behind tins project is to build predictive model for Personal loan Portfolio and deploying it at the frontend afterward. Although with the help of this model, it will be easy to predict income of future as well as the existing customers in Personal loan portfolio. This model was further deployed on the cloud-based server of the company with the use of an application programming interface. Hence, when any new customer applies for a loan, the model will be triggered, and the predicted income of the customer will be generated. Hence, this predictive model will help in checking the financial health of the customers. This study touches upon Data Pulling and making it available for analysis followed by Data Preparation; Model building with the help of Machine Learning Algorithms; Out of time testing; Model Testing; Model Deployment, and Model re-calibration. Due to the sensitivity of the data worked upon and the exact model worked out, 310this chapter does not disclose the name of the organization where this model was deployed, and also does not mention the technical output of the model.Item A Case Study on Developing an End-To-End Solution to Identify Loan Eligible Customers and Assigning Them Credit Lines Based on Their Predicted Income Chapter A Case Study on Developing an End-To-End Solution to Identify Loan Eligible Customers and Assigning Them Credit Lines Based on Their Predicted Income(Apple Academic Press, 2021) Nagpal, GauravItem Disruption and Innovation Trends in the QSR Industry: Perspectives Drawn From India(IGI Global, 2022) Nagpal, GauravThe QSR (quick service restaurants) industry in the emerging economies such as India is undergoing a wave of disruption and re-engineering. Many global brands in QSR food servicing have resorted to technology and innovation in one or more aspects of their value chain in order to maintain leadership positions in a market that is facing some fast-growing competition from various channels, especially with the penetration that service aggregators like Zomato, Swiggy, and Uber Eats have managed to gain. This study aims to establish a general direction towards which the QSR industry is progressing in India by examining not only the current trends in India but also the trends that are prevalent worldwide and which have the potential of diffusion to emerging economies like India.Item Influence of Time on Efficiency of Indian Capital Markets: Proposition of a Recommendation Engine(IEEE, 2022) Nagpal, Gaurav; Nagpal, AnkitaThis study aims to investigate the influence of the time on the efficiency of Indian capital markets and to propose a recommendation engine that can assist as a feedback system for better investment actions and an efficient capital market. It uses the data comprising fifty stocks listed on the National Stock Exchange over a period from Jan'2015 to Dec'2020 to determine the capital market efficiency and its trends using three techniques: correlation test, residuals test, and runs test. The proposed recommendation engine can generate the implications of contemporary events on the stock prices which can further bring the pricing errors to the surface faster. It can also assist in enhancing the capital market's efficiency which leads to a reduction of arbitrage opportunities and faster removal of pricing anomalies in the market.
