A multiple regression model to analyze the impact of endogenous factors on pearl millet and stover yield in India
(Emerald, 2025-08) Routroy, Srikanta; Sharma, Satyendra Kumar
The purpose of the study is to explore the impact of endogenous (farmer-controlled) factors on both pearl millet and stover yield. The study uses descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze farmer-controlled factors affecting pearl millet and stover yields, based on 473 survey responses from Rajasthan’s semiarid zones, analyzed with Minitab 21.4. The descriptive results indicate widespread use of desi seeds (77.4%) and organic fertilizers (67.4%), extensive crop rotation (78%), low intercropping (12%) and extensive dependence on rainfall (70%). The multiple regression analysis indicates irrigation frequency, seed type, fertilizer type and crop rotation as major drivers of yield. The most efficient combination of hybrid seeds, inorganic fertilizers, intercropping and high irrigation frequency yields the best yields. The least efficient combination of desi seeds, no fertilizer, no intercropping and very low irrigation frequency yields low yield levels. The findings validate targeted input strategies and policy reforms.

Identification and modelling of factors influencing service recovery
(Inder Science, 2024-04) Sharma, Satyendra Kumar; Chanda, Udayan
All supply chain around the world are established with an aim of reducing customer order cycle time, drive customer value and facilitate financial success. This also results in implementing effective service recovery strategies to achieve these goals. This paper identifies and analyses various factors which influences and contributes to service recovery process by exploring the existing literature on service recovery. Based on these factors, decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method is illustrated to precisely measure causal relations between all factors and define the processes influencing these factors. The results of this study state that proactive recovery capability, communication from suppliers in form of early warnings, focus on service outcome failures and moment of truth are the key enabling factors for service recovery, while customer commitment level, original cost and placing inventory close to customers are the most direct influencing factors

Modeling of Risk Factors in Transportation of Perishable Goods Using ISM Approach
(Springer, 2022-02) Sangwan, Kuldip Singh; Sharma, Satyendra Kumar
Transportation is most well defined as a catalyst of progress. This holds true especially in the case of transportation of perishable food items. Hence, it is tough to viably protect transient products and confirm extreme freshness during blistering and moist climate. In India, the most basic requirement in development of the nourishment preparing industry is the absence of included cold chain facilities. The objective of this research is to present the readily available facts about transport and storage of perishable foods and outline the risk factors involved in this activity. Through research, various risk factors in transportation have been analyzed using ISM technique.

Impact of Seed Type and Fertilizer on Pearl Millet Yield: A Descriptive Study in Selected Districts of Rajasthan
(Taylor & Francis, 2023) Routroy, Srikanta; Sharma, Satyendra Kumar
Various input factors for cultivation practices are adopted in the upstream supply chain such as seed quality, fertilizer use, rainfall, temperature and farmer awareness play an important role to maximize the pearl millet yield. A survey questionnaire was developed considering these factors and 473 farmer responses were collected from the semi-arid zone of Rajasthan. The adoption of different seed types for pearl millet are 77% (Desi), 22% (Hybrid), and 0.40%(both). Whereas the fertilizers usage is 67.44% (Organic), 5.50% (Inorganic), 19.66% (Both), and 7.40% (Not used). These factors have an impact on the yield of pearl millet. Therefore, there is a need to inform the benefits of hybrid seeds among the farmer through incentive schemes and various stakeholders such as SHGs (Self-Help Groups) for its increased adoption. Also, government should take steps so that marginal farmers can use both organic and inorganic fertilizers depending upon their cultivated land. The findings of the current research will be useful for the policy maker to develop different policies related to pearl millet and Stover yield and will be a valuable addition to the upstream pearl millet supply chain in specific.

Performance of Farmer Producer Organisations in Rajasthan: An Empirical Assessment
(Routledge, 202) Pandey, Ranjan; Sharma, Satyendra Kumar; Routroy, Srikanta
India is predominantly an agrarian economy. According to the recent Economic Survey (2021–22), agriculture and allied sectors continue to be the mainstay of the Indian economy as it is the largest employer of the working population and contributes about 19 to the total gross value added of the country in 2021–22. Unlike the agriculture system in Western Europe, Indian agriculture is dominated mainly by small and marginal farmers, accounting for more than four-fifths of the total landholding size. More recently, due to government intervention, many strategies, including agri-business models, have been developed to tackle 384the marginalisation of farmers by bringing them under one umbrella. With the recommendation of a committee headed by YK Alagh, the formation of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) has become a reality by incorporating a special provision in part IXA of the Companies Act, 1956. In this context, our attempt in this paper is to evaluate the financial performance of FPOs registered in Rajasthan.

Capital budgeting practices: a survey in the selected Indian manufacturing firms
(IDEAS is a RePEc, 2019) Chadha, Saurabh; Sharma, Satyendra Kumar
The purpose of this study is to investigate the capital budgeting practices prevalent in the selected Indian manufacturing firms. The study also determines the factors which sample firms consider for the ascertainment of their cost of capital. Further, the study throws a light on some of the issues which led to the ignorance of scientific evaluation techniques of project appraisal. The study was conducted with the help of survey method. The findings of the survey show that payback period method and NPV method are the two most popular techniques of capital budgeting in the Indian manufacturing sector. Although, the overall weightage of the non-discounting technique is more when compared to the discounting methods. It was also found that WACC is the most used method to determine the cost of capital in the sample firms. Thus, this study provides a useful insight of capital budgeting practices of Indian manufacturing firms. The study will be helpful for investors who are looking to invest in Indian manufacturing sector under the Make in India program and it is the first study of its kind which covers the ignorance aspect of the capital budgeting techniques.

Retail Location Decision Using an Integrated DEMATEL-ANP method: Retail Location
(IGI Global, 2018) Sharma, Satyendra Kumar; Routroy, Srikanta
This study focuses on developing a model for making retail location decisions which addresses the limitations of existing methods. The integrated DEMATEL-ANP method used here successfully accounts for interdependencies between the selected criteria. After reviewing the existing methods for decision making, the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation (DEMATEL) and the Analytical Network Process (ANP) methods were chosen. DEMATEL evaluates the degrees of influence the criteria have on each other. ANP is used to assign weights to criteria and the sub-criteria, and eventually derive the weights for the alternative locations. The integrated model helps prioritize among the available alternatives based on scientific methods, much more reliable than intuition and experience based methods still practiced today. Adopting this method can help retail chains make more informed decisions. This is the first time an integrated DEMATEL-ANP method has been applied in the context of retail location decision.
