    A data analytic-based logistics modelling framework for E-commerce enterprise

    Data-driven approaches have noteworthy significance in managing and improving logistics in E-commerce enterprises. This study focuses on the development of an integrated framework to analyse the Brazilian E-Commerce enterprise public dataset. From the analysis, it is found that sellers of Ibitinga city of SP state had the most count of late deliveries where 42 sellers are under-performing in terms of estimated delivery time. Locations of customers and sellers were spotted on a map to get a geographical representation. The proposed framework may help E-Commerce enterprise owners and retail merchants to make better decisions related to sales and E-Commerce enterprise logistics.

    Identification and modelling of factors influencing service recovery

    All supply chain around the world are established with an aim of reducing customer order cycle time, drive customer value and facilitate financial success. This also results in implementing effective service recovery strategies to achieve these goals. This paper identifies and analyses various factors which influences and contributes to service recovery process by exploring the existing literature on service recovery. Based on these factors, decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method is illustrated to precisely measure causal relations between all factors and define the processes influencing these factors. The results of this study state that proactive recovery capability, communication from suppliers in form of early warnings, focus on service outcome failures and moment of truth are the key enabling factors for service recovery, while customer commitment level, original cost and placing inventory close to customers are the most direct influencing factors

    Identifying factors determining the quality of mango: a design of experiments assessment

    Due to the recent disruptions caused by COVID-19, global supply chains are stress tested. The affected supply chains have interfered with market tonnage prices for the yield of perishable products like mangoes that are highly dependent on their quality. This research, through empirical findings, thus determines and comprehends the factors influencing mango quality (size).

    Sustainable Supply Chain in Product Development

    There exists an urgency for organizations all over the world to consider sustainable supply chain strategy in product development. Every firm needs to provide a safe working environment and reduce its ecological footprint as well as ensure returns to its investors. This calls for cross-functional integration, better decision making and performance improvement. Every stakeholder in the supply chain is responsible to ensure its’ sustainability. Several incentives can be found in adopting a sustainable supply chain management strategy. Sustainable supply chain management pushes the system towards forethought, exploration and data analysis in business so as to measure up to the expectation of customers and flourish in the long run. The focus of this study has been on why a company requires sustainable supply chain management and how it would benefit by implementing a sustainable supply chain management strategy. The core aspect was to analyze the advantages of sustainability in a supply chain and how everybody would be motivated to work towards it. Main outcome from the research is that stakeholders in different domains are more or less similar but the challenges and motivations of stakeholders are different in different domains. It is required to consider the domain specific characteristics for inclusion of sustainable supply chain in product development. A conceptual strategy is proposed to include sustainable supply chain in product development.

    Application of Optimization and Statistical Techniques in Post-Harvest Supply Chain: A Systematic Literature Survey

    The objective of this literature survey is to address the utility and potential of optimization, statistical surveys and mathematical research into post-harvest supply chains (PHSCs) to reduce losses. Empirical approaches have always helped to understand a generic issue with a specific perspective to highlight the shortcomings with the existing practice. The optimization approaches are used in the PHSC literature to design an optimum system to enhance revenues and to minimize losses. The existing PHSCs in developing countries such as India suffer enormous losses – e.g., revenue losses, physical damage of produce, microbial losses, qualitative losses, quantitative losses, etc. – in the absence of market prospects due to inefficient packaging for transportation and handling. This study covers a systematic literature survey covering the mathematical, statistical and optimization research performed in the field of PHSC and critical analysis to highlight the key aspects covered in the literature and their future scope.

    Antecedents of a Resilient Sustainable Supply Chain

    These days resilience and sustainability have become critical supply chain measures. Supply chain resiliency is being given top priority by the industry as well as the governments due to prolonged disruptions because of Covid-19 pandemic and geo-political uncertainties. The literature on this topic is largely focused on supply chain network design taking resiliency and sustainability into consideration. Even some researchers have found the antecedents of resilient sustainable supply chains (RSSC), but this research is largely segregated for a single or a few elements. There is a need to amalgamate the various antecedents of RSSC, find their weightage and interrelationship among them. This paper identifies seven antecedents of a RSSC from literature – visibility, flexibility, collaboration, control, circularity, digitalization, and network design. A fuzzy DEMATEL approach is used to find the causal relationship among these seven antecedents. Further, the weightage and ranks of these antecedents were found using multi criteria decision models. The findings of the study can be used by various researchers and practitioners for determining the importance and interrelationship of these elements in their organizations, which can be leveraged for strategic and operational decisions for effective management of supply chain disruptions.

    Benchmarking environmental performance of electric insulator supply chain in India using life cycle assessment

    Risk Propagation Modelling for Agri-Food Supply Chain: An Indian Perspective

    The structure of agri-food supply chains (AFSCs) is getting increasingly complicated and therefore, more susceptible to various risks. Therefore, the associated risks with AFSCs must be efficiently managed to improve supply chain performance. In order to understand the risk propagation in the AFSC, a framework based on the identified risk factors is proposed in the current study. Risk assessment studies through the model to predict the impact of risk factors on supply chain performance are limited in previous studies. The goal of the present study is the risk factors identification to create a tool for assessing and determining the risk exposure to AFSC in India. The risk factors are identified through expert interviews and literature reviews. The proposed risk network illustrates the basic framework of associated risk factors in AFSC in India. The supply chain executives can anticipate the likelihood of any potentially disruptive risk factors in AFSC with suggested framework.

    Impact of External Risk Factors on Indian Road Construction Supply Chain Performance

    Integration of supply chains is one of the most important parameters in managing a road construction project. While the concept of ‘supply chain’ has been around for some time, its specific applications in large projects such as road construction projects are still not well-understood. Although few studies have been carried out on the construction supply chain in India, it is at a nascent stage for Indian road projects. A significant amount of research needs to be carried out in the construction supply chain in India and for road projects along with enablers, impediments, and risks in specific. The sample survey questionnaire for the identification of risks in the construction supply chain for Indian road projects related to various identified potential areas is developed based on a literature review and information collected during focused group discussions with different stakeholders such as suppliers, Government officials, concessionaire, consultants, contractors, and users. Ten risks were identified via a literature review and discussion with fifty experts in the Indian Road Construction Industry. As per the opinion of industry experts and twenty-two years of experience of the author, these risks are further divided into two types, internal risk, and external risk. The objective of this study is to understand the impact of external risk on the performance of construction supply chain management for Indian road projects.

    Value stream map and supply chain interdependencies in India - Surimi case - OC2020 A-010

    This report is a part of WP1 in the Revalue project and presents the findings from process mapping of the Surimi value chain in India. There are many factors which have been identified as critical in maintaining fish and RRM quality. These include fragmented ownerships, fishing area identification, fishing boat and its capacity, boat unloading time and practice, absence of real time information sharing, visual inspections of fish quality at various stages, non-standard cold chain, lack of temperature measurement system, distributed location of operations etc. It was concluded from the process flow charts and cost-responsiveness analysis that the existing Surimi supply chain performance in India can be improved by removing the manual touch points and non-value-added activities. This will have positive impacts on the raw material quality and refrigeration required in the system proportionately.
