Item Role of gender-based digital financial inclusion and women empowerment in poverty reduction: evidence from Asian countries(Springer, 2025-04) Giri, Arun KumarThe main aim of this study is to explore the role of gender-based digital financial inclusion (GDFI) and women empowerment in poverty reduction in Asian countries using a panel data set from 2011 to 2023. For this purpose, the GDFI index, consisting of various indicators, was constructed employing principal component analysis (PCA). It also uses econometric techniques like the cross-sectional dependence (CSD) test, second-generation unit root tests such as CADF and CIPS, and traditional cointegration tests such as Pedroni and Kao. Further, CS-ARDL, Feasible Generalized Least Square (FGLS) Driscoll–Kraay (DK) standard errors, and Pairwise Dumitrescu and Hurlin panel causality test were applied. It was found that gender-based DFI and women's empowerment have a significant role in poverty reduction. They both influence positively in increasing household consumption. Moreover, inflation in the economy negatively influences poverty reduction. Access to financial independence among women can enable them to improve their bargaining power in households. Access to banks can increase their access to capital and lead to entrepreneurial activities. Hence, it is creating a more inclusive and sustainable development society. Further, the causality test findings suggested a bi-directional causal relationship between GDFI and poverty reduction, female labour force participation (FLP) and poverty reduction, and a unidirectional relationship between inflation and poverty reduction. The findings imply that enhancing gender-based digital financial inclusion (GDFI) and women's empowerment can significantly contribute to poverty reduction by increasing household consumption and financial independence.Item Contemporary Hindi Films: A Tool for Women Empowerment(EJSS, 2019) Shekhawat, SushilaInnumerable shades of women have found representation in various media formats such as television, print media, social media, internet, cinema etc. Fight for equality and more prominently human rights has been taken up by several prominent film makers to bring this pertinent issue to the limelight so as to enlighten the masses by exposing the actual story of women being involved. Narayan's The Guide on silver screen(2012) Lata, PushpIt is evident that an adaptation can be original or unoriginal but its presence is inarguable. Therefore this study does not make an attempt to see why a novel is adapted for cinematic projection, but tries to assess how effectively the adaptation is done. It is clear that the investigation is biased by both the eye and the eyepiece. R.K. Narayan adopts the individual as his reference and looks inward, affecting a microcosmic view of society and its problems. He showcases the idiosyncrasies of the characters and superimposes them on one another to come up with a layered structure of societal inconsistency and prejudice. On the other hand, Vijay Anand is inclined towards a top-down approach, treating issues and personalities first and then individuals and specific problems. For this purpose, this paper focuses on a famous work, ‘Guide’, by R. K. Narayan) and its adaptation for the movie Guide. It also examines how the film is different from its original source and how far a novel is adapted for cinematic projection, but tries to assess how the changes in the adaptation connote different insinuations and subtleties. It also explores how far the changes are independent of its original source and discusses the impact of these cinematic changes.Item ICT diffusion, women empowerment, and sustainable development in SAARC countries(Emerald, 2022-08) Giri, Arun Kumar; Debata, ByomakeshThe main purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of information and communication technology (ICT) diffusion in women empowerment and in fostering the process of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries using panel data from 2005 to 2020.
