Surface tensions of five binary mixtures of n-alkanes (C6, C7, C8, C12 and C16) with cyclohexane have been measured at 298.16 K over the entire mole fraction range. The mixtures containing the lower n-alkanes (C6–C8) show Gibbsean enrichment of the low surface tension component in the liquid/vapour interface, whereas the mixtures containing n-dodecane and n-hexadecane give both negative and positive excess surface tensions. The experimental results are in fair agreement with Flory's theory, recently extended to the surface tension of binary mixtures.en_US
