Abstract
Isothermal vapour/liquid equilibrium compositions and pressures are determined for the C2H6+ CO2 system, which is known to form a minimum boiling azeotrope. A vapour recirculation apparatus was used in obtaining experimental data for the –50.00, –30.00, –10.00, +10.00 and +20.00°C isotherms.
A model based on a statistical mechanical formulation of the principle of corresponding states is used to predict equilibrium ratios for the system under investigation. The model contains two temperature independent parameters and is found to represent the data extremely well.
