Item Development of lean enterprise implementation methodology: an ISM approach(Emerald, 2021-02) Jasti, Naga Vamsi Krishna; Kota, SrinivasThere is a concern in literature about the critical elements of lean enterprise (LE) that can be represented as pillars of lean enterprise excellence. However, existing frameworks proposed on LE excellence are very few. The purpose of this paper is to develop a relationship model among the pillars of a proposed framework of LE excellence in Indian manufacturing industry by Jasti et al. (2020) with the help of interpretive structural modelling (ISM) and structural equation modelling (SEM).Item Development of a framework for lean production system: An integrative approach(Sage, 2015-10) Jasti, Naga Vamsi KrishnaLean production is one of the alternatives to achieve excellence in the organizational operations. The objective of this study is to develop a lean production system framework by conducting critical analysis and comparative analysis on the existing lean production system frameworks. The study has collected 131 lean production system-related frameworks from the literature survey. The study has identified 39 frameworks using validity and reliability analysis, which is considered as a sample of framework in this study. The study has performed critical analysis on the sample of the frameworks in the aspects of novelty of frameworks, background development of framework, status of verification of frameworks and verification methodology used to verify the proposed frameworks. The study has proposed a framework with the help of domain knowledge, through discussion with experts in the field, comparative analysis as well as reliability and validity analysis. The study clearly discloses major irregularities in lean production system literature such as majority of frameworks have been developed based on novelty concept. The study also found a lack of significant participation of practitioners and consultants in the development of lean production system-related frameworks. The study has identified 11 pillars with the help of comparative analysis. However, finally the study has proposed a framework with the help of 11 pillars and 83 elements in the field of lean production system.Item An empirical investigation on lean production system framework in the Indian manufacturing industry(Emerald, 2019-02) Jasti, Naga Vamsi KrishnaThe purpose of this paper is to verify the applicability of proposed lean production system (LPS) framework in the Indian manufacturing industry.Item Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats analysis of lean implementation frameworks(Inder Science, 2014-04) Mishra, Rajesh PThe aim of this paper is to use the SWOT analysis that can be used as a decision-making aid to choose an appropriate framework according to the industry needs. Various databases were searched for research on lean implementation and the obstacles to successful lean implementation. Following this, analysis was carried out to identify the major success factors and an ideal lean implementation framework. Based on SWOT analysis it has found that every framework has its own sets of strengths and weaknesses. Decision makers can know the suitability of different framework. But most important is what model which suit to most of the situations. This paper developed a lean implementation model which is more generic, has overcome the most of the issues related to implementation compared to other frameworks. The lean implementation frameworks identified are not industry centric but more generic in nature.Item An application of value stream mapping in auto-ancillary industry: A case study(Emerald, 2020-01) Sangwan, Kuldip Singh; Jasti, Naga Vamsi Krishna; Kota, SrinivasLean manufacturing (LM) plays a major role in eliminating wastes (activities/resources) in a manufacturing organization. Value stream mapping (VSM) is one of the critical tools in LM which will help in identifying wastes in materials and information flow in a specific product family. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the significance of VSM in the auto-ancillary industry in enhancing the productivity and the quality.Item A framework for lean manufacturing implementation(Inder Science, 2016-10) Sangwan, Kuldip SinghThis paper aims at providing a lean implementation framework, which takes into consideration the strengths and weaknesses of the existing frameworks, for easy and effective lean manufacturing implementation by the managers/practitioners. A review of 22 existing lean implementation frameworks has been done to identify the strengths and weaknesses of existing models. A lean manufacturing implementation framework is proposed by leveraging these strengths and mitigating the weaknesses. The novelty of the proposed framework is that it provides easy to understand steps to be followed during pre-implementation, implementation and post-implementation phases for easy understanding and self assessment at critical milestones. It is believed that the proposed lean implementation framework will serve as a guide map to the managers for lean manufacturing implementation. In addition, the proposed framework is simple yet comprehensive in term of coverage: horizontally, it covers the whole supply chain and vertically it starts from lean philosophy awareness creation and ends with rewards for successful implementation.Item Development of an integrated performance measurement framework for lean organizations(Emerald, 2018) Sangwan, Kuldip SinghThe purpose of this paper is to propose an integrated performance measurement framework to measure the effect of lean implementation throughout all functions of an organization.Item Lean manufacturing: literature review and research issues(Emerald, 2014-07) Sangwan, Kuldip SinghThe advent of recession at the beginning of twenty-first century forced many organizations worldwide to reduce cost and to be more responsive to customer demands. Lean Manufacturing (LM) has been widely perceived by industry as an answer to these requirements because LM reduces waste without additional requirements of resources. This led to a spurt in LM research across the globe mostly through empirical and exploratory studies which resulted in a plethora of LM definitions with divergent scopes, objectives, performance indicators, tools/techniques/methodologies, and concepts/elements. The purpose of this paper is to review LM literature and report these divergent definitions, scopes, objectives, and tools/techniques/methodologies.
