Item Adoption and Diffusion of Hi-Technology Product and Related Inventory Policies: An Integrative Literature Review(IGI Global, 2020) Chanda, Udayan; Nagpal, GauravThe objective of this review article is to study the published research on the inventory modeling and optimization for substitutable technology products with a short product life cycle. This review explains the demand dynamics of technology generation products and how to administer supply chain management of this kind of products than any other functional products. The article does a review of the demand models proposed on the diffusion of innovation products, and then, moves on to the literature review of the multi-item inventory models, followed by the literature review of the inventory modeling of substitutable items. In order to ensure the quality, this study covers the review of the research papers mostly published in reputed SCI or ABDC rated journals. The study discovers that the research that has been done on the inventory optimization of multi generation technology products is not only rare but also very restrictive in its scope and assumptions. The study then proposes the directions for the future research.Item Adoption and usage of the electronic national agriculture market: a literature review(CRC Press, 2023) Dutta, Nirankush; Chanda, UdayanAgricultural marketing is one of the lifelines for a sizeable population of India and it contributes 25 percent of the GDP. An effective agricultural marketing system can help farmers market their products at a fair and reasonable price. In recent years due to technological breakthroughs, the Indian agriculture sector is experiencing substantial shifts in irrigation strategies and the result is reflected in the surplus production of crops. Despite record production in crops the visible changes in farmers’ earnings are very negligible. The more profitable production of crops emphasizes the importance of agricultural marketing for the inclusive development of the agriculture and welfare of the farmers. “Thus the government and other organizations are trying to address the key challenges of agriculture in India, including small holdings of farmers, primary and secondary processing, supply chain, the infrastructure supporting the efficient use of resources and marketing, and reducing intermediaries in the market” (Sharma 2021). The National Agriculture Market (eNAM)- a pan-India electronic trading portal introduced in April 2016 to connect the Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMC) mandis and to set up an integrated nationwide market for agricultural commodities. “It unites surplus production regions with deficit regions through an online platform, which may lead to better market competition, and thus better prices for farmers for their produce” (Venkatesh et al, 2021). This initiative was widely considered to be a game changer for farmers and the overall agricultural marketing sector of India. The present research paper reviews existing literature on the adoption of the e-NAM platform across different Indian states to highlight the status of adoption and acceptance by its various stakeholdersItem Agri-fresh Supply Chain Management: A Systematic Literature Review(Springer, 2022) Matai, RajeshThe paper presents a systematic literature review of Agri-fresh supply chain management. This paper provides an insight into various issues of the Agri-fresh supply chain. It uncovers the future research scope. The study includes only fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables; other perishable items like dairy, meat, flowers are excluded.Item Agro-tourism: a literature review(CRC Press, 2023) Goyal, Praveen; Chadha, SaurabhFor many centuries, the agricultural sector has been considered an important sector of the economy. Over a while, the contribution of this sector to economic growth has declined for various reasons. These reasons include rapid industrialization, migration to the urban areas, more focus on white-collar jobs, and a decline in agricultural land resulting in the downfall in the farmer’s income. Governments across the globe, in general, and especially in developing economies, are exploring various ways to increase the income of rural households. Agro-tourism has emerged as an important way to increase farmers’ income globally. Governments are implementing various policies to promote agro-tourism activities. In recent years, this concept has captured the interest of scholars, practitioners, and policymakers and further resulted in the growth of research in this field. This study presents a review of the literature in the field of agro-tourism. The literature for the study was collected from the Scopus database using specific keywords. Research studies published in the last 20 years were collected for the review. The study results show a significant growth in the literature in the field of agro-tourism across the globe.Item Analysis of book sales prediction at Amazon marketplace in India: a machine learning approach(Springer, 2019-09) Sharma, Satyendra KumarPrediction of customer demand is an important part of Supply Chain Management, as it helps to avoid over or under production and reduces delivery time. In the context of e-commerce, accurate prediction of customer demand, typically captured by sales volume, requires careful analysis of multiple factors, namely, type of product, country of purchase, price, discount rate, free delivery option, online review sentiment etc., and their interactions. For e-tailers such as, Amazon, this kind of prediction capability is also extremely important in order to manage the supply chain efficiently as well as ensure customer satisfaction. This study investigates the efficacy of various modeling techniques, namely, regression analysis, decision-tree analysis and artificial neural network, for predicting the sales of books at amazon.in, using various relevant factors and their interactions as predictor variables. Sentiment analysis is carried out to measure the polarity of online reviews, which are included as predictors in these models. The importance of each independent predictor variable, such as discount rate, review sentiment etc., is analyzed based on the outcome of each model to determine top significant predictors which can be controlled by the marketer to influence sales. In terms of accuracy of prediction, the artificial neural network model is found to perform better than the decision-tree based model. In addition, the regression analysis, with and without sentiment and interaction factors, generates comparable results. The comparative analysis of these models reveals several significant findings. Firstly, all three models confirm that review volume is the most important and significant predictor of sales of books at amazon.in. Secondly, discount rate, discount amount and average ratings have minimal or insignificant effect on sales prediction. Thirdly, both negative sentiment and positive sentiment of the reviews are individually significant predictors as per regression and decision-tree model, but they are not significant at all as per neural network model. This observation from the neural network model is contrary to the extant research which claims that both negative and positive sentiment are significant with the former having more influence in predicting sales. Finally, the interaction effects of review volume with negative and positive sentiment are also found to be significant predictors as per all three models. Hence, overall, out of various factors used for sales prediction of books, review volume, negative sentiment, positive sentiment and their interactions are found to be the most significant ones across all models. The results of this study can be utilized by online sellers to accurately predict the sales volume by adjusting these significant factors, thereby managing the supply chain effectively.Item Analysis of categorical incident data and design for safety interventions using axiomatic design framework(Springer, 2020-03) Verma, AbhishekAlthough analysing categorical data from incident investigation reports provides meaningful associations amongst causal factors of incidents, however, to date, no studies considered these associations in designing actionable interventions for safety improvement. We propose a methodology using descriptive analytics and axiomatic design framework. In this study, we have analysed injury, and ‘property-damage’ data, collected for 45 months from a large integrated steel plant. The data are analysed using the contingency table, Cramer’s V, Phi coefficients (ϕ) and Fisher’s exact test. The ‘wire-making division’ is the most injury-prone. Unsafe acts done by fellow workers are significantly causing injuries in ‘support services’, maintenance and ‘steel-making’. The property-damage cases are mostly reported in ‘steel-making division’, and caused by material-handling, crane-dashing, toxic-chemical, hot-metal and process-related incidents. It is also found that SOP inadequacy and non-compliance are significantly associated with ‘property-damage’ incidents. The key interventions from axiomatic design are as follows. For process-related incidents, regular inspection and maintenance of safety-critical equipment should be done. Safety-critical instrument and alarms can also be used to monitor safe operating limits of processes. Unsafe acts by fellow workers are the result of lack of coordination and communication. So, the management should identify and provide the types of safety training necessary to improve the same. The material-handling related problems can be handled through improved staff competency and communication. To address the SOP related issues, operating procedures should be reviewed, revised and communicated regularly.Item Analysis of Factors Influencing Negative e-Word of Mouth in Online Social Media Marketing(ACM Digital Library, 2019) Bhat, Anil KumarThe advent of online social media (OSM) marketing necessitates further examination of existent studies on the negative word of mouth (NWOM). Earlier studies have focused mostly on the effect of consumption of NWOM. The present research paper, on the other hand, strives to find out the influence of various factors that may motivate users of the OSM to propagate NWOM through these platforms. The results of the study confirm that external motivation factor -- Deal Proneness - significantly induces electronic NWOM (e-NWOM). Also, the moderation effect of Deal Proneness on the relationship between N-eWOM and the factors influencing e-NWOM is discussed.Item Analysis of manufacturing supply chain agility performance using Taguchi loss functions and design of experiment(Emerald, 2018-11) Rout, Bijay Kumar; Sharma, Satyendra Kumar; Routroy, SrikantaThe purpose of this paper is to evaluate the agility performance level of manufacturing supply chains using Taguchi loss functions (TLFs) and design of experiment (DoE).Item Analysis of supply chain vulnerability factors in manufacturing enterprises: a fuzzy DEMATEL approach(Taylor & Francis, 2022-06) Sharma, Satyendra Kumar; Routroy, SrikantaWith an increase in supply chain disruptions, managing supply chain vulnerability has become a key factor to build resilient supply chains. Although supply chain vulnerability and associated factors are mostly studied individually or with selected groups, the supply chain literature lacks comprehensive and systematic studies. The current study aims to identify and segregate the supply chain vulnerability factors for manufacturing enterprises based on causal–effect relationships that exist between them. The supply chain vulnerability factors are identified from the extant literature review. Its applicability in Indian manufacturing enterprises is discussed with experts drawn from industry and academia. The cause–effect relationships of selected supply chain vulnerability factors are analysed using the fuzzy Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) approach. The obtained results indicate that supply design and supply chain efficiency-related factors are effect factors, whereas supply chain collaboration and information technology-related factors are causal factors. Complexity, centralisation, supplier concentration and low-cost sourcing are found to be the most prominent factors. This research contributes to the literature on supply chain vulnerability by describing the causal relationships among key factors impacting it. It would help managers to develop appropriate disruptions mitigation strategy(s) to make a resilient and robust supply chain.Item Anti-depressant-like activity of a novel serotonin type-3 (5-HT3) receptor antagonist in rodent models of depression(NISCAIR, 2011) Mahesh, R.N-Cyclohexyl-3-methoxyquinoxalin-2-carboxamide (QCM-13), a novel 5-HT3 antagonist identified from a series of compounds with higher pA2 (7.6) and good log P (2.91) value was screened in rodent models of depression such as forced swim test (FST), tail suspension test (TST), interaction studies with standard anti-depressants and confirmatory studies such as reversal of parthenolide induced depression and reserpine induced hypothermia. In FST (2 and 4 mg/kg) and TST (2 and 4 mg/kg), QCM-13 significantly reduced the duration of immobility in mice without affecting the base line locomotion. QCM-13 (2 and 4 mg/kg) was also found to have significant interaction with standard anti-depressants (fluoxetine and bupropion in FST and TST respectively). Further, reversal of parthenolide induced depression in mice and reserpine induced hypothermia in rat models indicate the serotonergic influence of QCM-13 for anti-depressant potential.Item Anxiolytic-like effect of (4-benzylpiperazin-1-yl)(3-methoxyquinoxalin-2-yl)methanone (6g) in experimental mouse models of anxiety(Wolters Kluwer, 2013) Mahesh, R.The present study was designed to investigate the anxiolytic activity of 6g, a novel serotonin type-3 receptor (5-HT 3) receptor antagonist in experimental mouse models of anxiety.Item Anxiolytic-like effect of etazolate, a type 4 phosphodiesterase inhibitor in experimental models of anxiety(NISCAIR, 2013-06) Mahesh, R.Etazolate is a selective inhibitor of type 4 phosphodiesterase (PDE4) class enzyme. Antidepressant-like effect of etazolate has been previously demonstrated in the rodent models of depression. The present study was designed to investigate the anxiolytic-like activity of etazolate in experimental mouse models of anxiety. The putative anxiolytic effect of etazolate (0.25-1 mg/kg, ip) was studied in mice by using a battery of behavioural tests of anxiety such as elevated plus maze (EPM), light/dark (L/D) aversion, hole board (HB) and open field (OFT) with diazepam (2 mg/kg, ip) as reference anxiolytic. Like diazepam (2 mg/kg, ip), etazolate (0.5 and 1 mg/kg, ip) significantly increased the percentage of both time spent and entries into open arms in the EPM test. In the L/D test etazolate (0.5 and 1 mg/kg, ip) increased the both total time spent in and latency time to leave the light compartment. Etazolate (0.5 and 1 mg/kg, ip) also significantly increased head dipping scores and time spent in head dipping, whereas significantly decreased the head dipping latency in HB test. In addition, etazolate (0.5 and 1 mg/kg, ip) significantly increased the ambulation scores (square crossed) and number of rearing in OFT. In conclusion, these findings indicated that etazolate exhibited an anxiolytic-like effect in experimental models of anxiety and may be considered an alternative approach for the management of anxiety disorder.Item Application of computational intelligence techniques for business performance improvement-a case of indian auto industry(IEEE, 2024-07) Matai, RajeshThere is a drastic reduction in registered firms in the Indian auto industry. The variation in profitability levels among the firms from different tiers of the Indian auto industry is also huge. The context in which the firms operate, as well as the issues they face, differ. The business performance of the firms is a big question. A few fundamental questions about performance enablers per firm tier and their interaction effects on reaching desired profitability have mostly gone unanswered. Based on the eight-year secondary data (2012–2019), the authors selected vital factors contributing to profitability and tested their influence on three sample firms representing different tiers using computational intelligence capabilities. Our research helped identify specific contributory factors per tier and develop the optimal combination of interaction effects among the contributory factors to achieve the desired profitability levels. No such studies exist in the literature. These studies give firms in the Indian auto industry the confidence and direction to concentrate on the critical input variable combinations and their operating levels to achieve their organizational goals and ensure business sustenanceItem Application of multicriteria decision analysis (mcda) in the area of sustainability: a literature review(International Journal of the Analytic Hierarchy Process Publishing, 2020) Goyal, PraveenMulti-Criteria Decision Analysis is a decision-making technique that is used by practitioners and frequently discussed and applied by researchers. This present study attempts to review the literature of applications of MCDA techniques in the area of sustainability using citation analysis. For the data collection, the Scopus database was used. Flexible strategy game-card has been used as a theoretical basis for developing the performance management system (PMS). The model emphasises looking beyond the dynamics of leading and lagging performance indicators and capturing dynamics of strategic interventions and firm's performance. The study adopts SD methodology, and it is tools as causal loop diagrams and feedback loops to capture dynamics of strategic interventions and lagging performance indicators. ISEE systems STELLA 10.0.2 software package has been used to develop the stock-and-flow diagram. The results of SD model simulation portray that introduction of new products in light commercial vehicles segment, and value-addition by training and development of staff lead to an increase in the sales volume, thus supporting formulated hypotheses. This study goes beyond the dynamics of leading-lagging performance indicators and highlights the interaction of strategic interventions/actions with firm's performance that enables managers to visualise systems perspective and feedback on actions taken.Item An Approach to Identify Provocative and Problematic Content with Social Nociceptor(ACM Digital Library, 2021-01) Mitra, SatanikIn recent times the gradual decrease in the confidence of mainstream media among the masses is observable. As per a survey, 36% of US citizens trust news organizations for delivering factually correct and straight information with respect to 54% in mid-1989 [1]. In this post-trust era, the news is motivated by individual belief and emotions, depriving the true information. In such a scenario “stories of uncertain provenance or accuracy”, accepted by people as fact [2], [3]. Inaccurate or compromised news carries potential threats towards communal harmony, political motives and hatred among different cultural or religious communities. Zimbars, (2016) creates a bibliography of websites along with 11 categories of misleading or fake news which includes – hate news, junk science, politics etc. However, the automatic detection of such misleading information is expected in today's world. Human psychology reveals the effects of confirmation bias, which is an inclination to process information in conformity with individuals’ preconception. Social influence is another factor which results in herd behaviour [4], [5]. These notions varies across culture, religion, education, economic statuses and languages. Hence, precise categorization of topics that is utterly sensitive for the people will be effective. We term such topics as “social nociceptors”. Nociceptors is a biological term, represents a type of sensory neuron to signal the damage happens in the body, externally. We extend this term in social context.Item Are COVID Survived Workplaces transforming into Zen Workplaces?(BVIMSR Journal of Management Research, 2021) Mahesh, JayashreeAre Zen workplaces the future of COVID survived workplaces? The purpose of this paper is to understand futuristic Zen workplaces from the South Asian perspective. From the existing literature on the culturaly rich heritage of organizational citizenship behavior, mindfulness, and wellbeing were chosen for the study.Item Are Gen Z Values the New Disruptor for Future Educational Institutions?(Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice, 2021) Bhat, Anil Kumar; Mahesh, JayashreeDo educational organizations need to go beyond the self-imposed dichotomies of preparing students for either career or direct them towards their passions, guide them towards professional success or goad them towards a balance that will keep them happy? Whether models of teaching/learning would have to evolve through disruption or perish in future? That is the motivation for our study which seeks to understand in depth, the values of post-millennial higher education students and suggest consequently a broad contour of academic structure that might accommodate their preferences. We purposely select a sample cohort of brightest Generation Z students of an eminent technological university who can articulate freely their deepest feelings and perceptions about their hopes and fears. Through qualitative research tools we obtain their rich inputs to propose a model of teaching /learning based upon four superordinate Generation Z values (viz. instrumental – career & passions; terminal – success & happiness) in the context of higher education. Finally, we propose a framework for change of educational organizations in terms of their curriculum, pedagogy and culture.Item Assessing Impact of Human Capital, SRHRM and Employee Related Factors on Firm Performance(World Scientific, 2019) Goyal, Praveen; Chanda, UdayanIn today’s competitive environment, the Indian manufacturing sector is feeling the need to develop new strategies to increase employee performance by improving the job satisfaction and reducing stress.
